Welcome to Year 12 Geography. Our topics this year are:
(1) Natural Hazards
(3) Extreme Weather
In Term 1 we learn all about the topics mentioned above. In Term 2 we concentrate on preparing for the Mock Exam and working out strategies to answer questions as effectively as possible. We also do Field work.
AS Geography is a demanding course that requires good English skills as well as a love of our World! It is recommended that students who take this course have also completed IGCSE Geography - with a grade of 'B' or better!
Our major book resource for the course is Edexcel Geography for AS Students. The book comes together with a very handy CD Rom with a great deal of useful information and past paper questions. AS Geography students are expected to take a keen interest in the world around them. The television, internet and newspapers are all sources of geographical knowledge and events the student must keep current on.
Classwork for the Week
Weekly lesson plans will be attached to this heading every Saturday so that students may plan which resources to bring to class for lessons. At the present moment students are engaged in intensive revision exercises that require them to bring their textbooks and 'past paper' questions to class.
Term 2 - Apart from the Mock Examination which constitutes 80% of the term grade all appraisal is based on in - class work and fieldwork projects.
Term 3 gives students limited opportunities to hone their Geographical skills one last time before the external examinations. In the interim students should work at studying their Geographical content during the holidays and answering Past Paper questions.
